"Art has something to do with the achievement of stillness in the midst of chaos.  A stillness which characterizes prayer, too, and the eye of the storm... an arrest of attention in the midst of distraction."- Saul Bellow "Writers at Work"

This is a site devoted to the arts that I love: literature, film, music, visual arts, dance.  Instead of blogging, I though I'd let these artworks do the talking on my behalf.

I'm going to post poems and pictures, quotes and lyrics that reflect something special about myself that you might find surprising.  So enjoy!

Updates

July 19, 2004  First posting has got to be some Tolstoy!  It's long, I know, but it's so good.  Check it out!  And have some Kleenex on hand!

July 21, 2004 First poem is by T.S. Eliot-- "Burnt Norton".  I think that was the name of a summer home his family had in England while he was growing up, if that helps :)  It's from the Four Quartets, so if you like headtrips, check out the rest of them!

July 23, 2004 Since you're still probably working on Tolstoy, I figured I'd throw a little more poetry your way--- more "uplifting" stuff by John Keats, for all your symbolism lovers out there!

July 25, 2004 Well, it's been getting a wee bit heady lately, so I'm going to change things up.  Today I'm entering a few song lyrics that I've found relevant in years past.  So come along- it's storytime!
